Argentina MotoGP Saturday Subscriber Notes: A New Era Beckons

By David Emmett | Sat, 15/Mar/2025 - 23:59

There is an entirely unsubstantiated rumor, which I have personally decided to believe regardless of the evidence, that Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta worked hard to prevent Ducati from signing Marc Márquez to the factory team. After two sprints and a GP, you have to concede that he would have been right to try to interfere. So far, Márquez has looked pretty much unstoppable. Exactly as you would expect when you put the best rider on the best bike.

Glad I had Márquez brothers in my fantasy team, but agree that I may not have to move them around much this season until Pecco sorts out that missing piece.

Great to see Zarco and Honda in the mix again!  Is this in part because of the cooler temps leveling the grip issue?  Or can this jump in relative performance continue in hotter conditions too?  For the show I hope it can.

Pedro was smoking the rear and obviously could not fight as he should.  I can see Honda checking their bank account to see what kind of offer they might push across the table when it’s time.

The Aprilia does not look as settled on corner entry. Hopefully they find half a step. Honda’s progress is very encouraging. I have to wonder if Zarco’s record of 2nd places before finally scoring a victory may be threatened by Alex Marquez.

before finally winning the 2023 PI round? Ten? Alex won't finish in front of his brother until there is no mathematical chance of Marc losing the championship. So I reckon Alex will outdo Zarco's run of second places before winning his first for the year as it is a long season with plenty of points. I always wondered how Alex kept his seat at Gresini and now I know; his destiny has always been to be his brother's wingman. Very interesting season.

He'll take his first win whenever he can. He'll do it regardless of where his brother is. I think his biggest fan, besides him Mum and Dad, is his brother.

...and neither would let the other win if they could win instead. Siblings.

Your suggesting that Alex, paid by Gresini, is working for Marc to the detriment of Pecco and the sport in general, up until the point Marc wins the title. I'm suggesting, not a cat in hells chance.

After today's race, I no longer think Alex will wait until the point when Marc wins the title. There is no need. And, hey, CotA is next so let's see want happens. And then Qatar and then Jerez. Should be all over pretty soon. Hope not and, anyway, lots of interest with the other racers and teams.

He did win a Sprint, but we are talking about Sunday, and the stats are treated differently—whether that is right or wrong. I’m extremely happy to see Zarco where he is. But the best thing for this season—and all of us watching—would be for Alex to find just a little bit extra.

And three dull watches. MM fan or no, this doesn’t bode well for the spectacle unless someone can step up, Pecco or Martin, what a shame Jorge is missing.

Would Jorge's presence really make any difference?

The real question, what's Alex been eating for breakfast over winter. 3 tenths per lap faster than Pecco.

He's been eating next to nothing.

But that's solely based on his razor-sharp appearance.

Being such a tall guy, he 'did a Redding' and lost some extra weight.
