Why Isn't My Autorenew Subscription Autorenewing?

By David Emmett | Fri, 08/Nov/2024 - 20:41

Last year, we introduced autorenewing subscriptions at the request of a lot of MotoMatters.com subscribers. However, as this wave of subscriptions has been set to autorenew, it turns out that a number of them are failing to do so.

The reasons appear to be very complex, mostly related to the communication between the back end of the subscription side of the website, payment processors, and credit card companies, but it sets up multiple points of potential failure. And while a proportion of the autorenewing subscriptions have renewed automatically, a large number haven't.

For that reason, earlier this year I suspended the sale of autorenewing subscriptions. Currently, we are only selling subscriptions that need to be manually renewed.

So if you signed up for an autorenewing subscription, and suddenly find yourself unable to read the subscriber articles, please check to see whether the subscription has failed to renew. If that is the case, simply take out a new subscription if you wish to continue to support MotoMatters.com.

Which I hope you will do! MotoMatters.com subscribers keep the website running and allow me to go to races and report on the greatest sport in the world. Without you, this website ceases to exist.

My sincere apologies for the inconvenience. I have a long list of changes and improvements I want to make to the website over the winter. Looking into this is one of them.

Thanks as always for the support of everyone who has contributed to the website. I cannot tell you how much it means to me, and how important it is.

If you want to support us, you can help by taking out a subscription, supporting us on Patreon, by making a donation, or contributing via our GoFundMe page. You can find out more about subscribing to MotoMatters.com here.

One less robot dipping their oily mechanical fingers into my pocket to help themself.

I re-up at my leisure. Usually for the next subscriber notes installment. Works for me.

For letting us know... I did encounter that problem, suddenly unable to access subscribers content and doubting myself - am I hopelessly technologically challenged?

It took me a few hours of head scratching and finally I got it  and I renewed my subscription.

OK David, you made our lives harder, but it's worth it! Thank you for your astounding reporting.

Cheers,

mgm
