I continue to be hounded and frustrated by health issues. This time, I managed to strain my back by performing the strenuous and unwise action of * checks notes * pulling my jogging pants on.
However, that has meant that I have spent all of Monday in bed, resting my back. I should be fit enough to sit properly and write on Tuesday, to bring you insights into what happened in Argentina, whether Marc Marquez was playing with his brother again, whether Pecco Bagnaia is in trouble or not, and how Ai Ogura managed to get himself disqualified, through no fault of his own.
Apologies for the delay. I shall try to make up in insight what I lost in tardiness. In the meantime, make sure you listen to Steve English, Neil Morrison, and Adam Wheeler on the Argentina round up episode of the Paddock Pass Podcast.
Thanks as always for your support.

Health First!
Take care David and get well soon. Don't worry about tardiness. What you deliver is always worth the wait!
Cheers,
mgm
Take your time David...
... your health comes first. We'll wait.
If Back Injuries Aren't The Worst...
... They're surely in the top five (speaking from personal experience they are the worst). I sincerely hope that heals up quickly and completely.
Aprilia fly away fail
Douglas Adams warned us about joggers. Get well soon Kropotkin.
Usually the costly mistakes are made by Aprilia at the end of the season. Something often happens when they are a long way from home.
This year they started early.
Backs
Prolonged sitting will not be good for your back. If your intention is to produce an article on Tuesday, I would suggest frequent breaks during the composition phase or you will be in agony afterwards.
I would also suggest consulting a good physiotherapist and getting some back exercises to help.
Don't rush ...
to come back too soon. Ask Marc what can happen. :=)
I'm sure motomutterers value quality over instant gratification, and will wait phlegmatically - and no, I didn't have to look it up. Best wishes for a full recovery from Aotearoa New Zealand.
three clicks off the…
three clicks off the compression, 4 on rebound, let air out, turn up the steering damper. Oh and some pain killers!
David,
I injured my back in '95 and it's been...... lets just say my doc said 'back is a four letter word'.
GOOD LUCK!
R
Hey David
I highly recommend a standing desk!
Good luck ...
... 3B43's comment about "back" being a four-letter word is spot-on, as my wife and I can attest. Hope you're feeling better asap.
Standing desks are great.
Painkillers to enhance creativity.
Muscles are the only long term fix - riding a road bike is good once the base work is done.
Best wishes.
Back injuries...
truly suck. I hurt mine originally in high school playing football. I had several incidents over the years but ignored them
Years later at work I bent over and out it went. I chose the chiropractic route. The guy I went to told me that the seven most dangerous words in the English language were "It will probably go away by itself". Now that I'm an old man my spine is so messed up and degenerating I've shrunk over 2" in the last 20 years.
I'm not saying chiropractic is for everyone, but heed that advice. It won't go away by itself. Get some treatment so you can feel better.

Chritopractic ...
... my brother has a chiropracter who mostly works on horses ... really. Says he's done wonders for him over the years. Not suggesting you check with an equine chrurio , but ... Best of luck with whatever you do!

Sceptic, well Yes...but me too!
Never
Never engage in anything that involves the word jogging. Rest and get well.
Get well David
And to add to possible workarounds: use voice recognition to write your articles while walking. Walking (when possible) seems to be good for your back and your creativity will be up when moving as well (I recommend reading or listening to Erik Scherder (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjEH2CSi1-s) for more information)....

I absolutely agree...
... because I have serious back issues since my teens (Ankylosing Spondylitis and youthful madness) and I have discovered that walking is a wonderful exercise. My rheumy advised that walking fast enough to get slightly out of breath is when your body benefits most because your heart is working slightly harder and forcing blood into, and building, tiny veins that then help with reconstruction etc. I listen to the Paddock Podcasts and it's like walking with a couple of mates. I also find that I much prefer podcasts to music because the beat can unconsciously affect my stride rate and become uncomfortable. As an aside... Gaelic footballers here, in Ireland, are amateurs but train very intensively because they are mostly all insane. Most clubs mandate walking every day and have seen overall fitness levels improve. A cousin, who plays Gaelic, told me he has never felt fitter. You should take a look at Gaelic football on YouTube, it's an intense game. Hurling is good too, the fastest stick and ball field game in the World... now, those guys ARE insane!
High impact
sports have a lot to answer for. As a relatively fit, not too overweight old B I am now thankful to my parents for the best thing they ever did for me - their genes. I was also crap at ball games and therefore swam and cycled (not obsessively). My lifestyle was not manual labour but I used to rush between meetings and carry a 10-15kg briefcase around London streets and tube network, walking up stairs and escalators. Only when I stopped doing it did I realise what good exercise it was. But not high impact.
I once had to go to a chiropractor recommend by colleagues with long term problems and his treatment was helpful but the advice more so - simply that skeletons are designed to be supported by muscles. Big muscles are likely to lead to worn-out joints. Moderate/small is best. I’ve followed that for the rest of my life.
Also been there
Also been there. Lots of discomfort and restricted movement until I had a Laminectomy in 1988. Then OK until I had a hip replacement a couple of years ago. I've a suspicion that I’ve got different length legs now. The hip’s fine now, the back less so. The one thing I learnt was if something that you are doing is making it worse then stop doing it (as far as is practicable).
A sad day today. My 1985 RD500 went to a new home. Owned it since 1991 but not ridden for a number of years. At 75 I realised that my plan to restore it after retirement was no longer realistic. So it was best to let someone else get the benefit of it. I was determined to pass it on to someone who was going to put the time and effort that it justified, and I’m pleased that it has gone to a very enthusiastic gentleman who plans to do just that.
Someone should...
start a poll to see exactly how many fossils post on this site.
I expect the ratio is very high.

At what age?
At what age should I stop commenting and take myself to an ethical suicide booth?
Asking for an old fart.
I'm 64 my back is ok. Shoulders not super good. I ride on the road and dirt most weeks.
Should I stop giving my money to support a young rider in the Australian supersport championship?
