The Drip Of MotoGP Calendar News Continues: India Out, Portimão In

By David Emmett | Wed, 25/Sep/2024 - 13:38

Dorna continue their current fad of drip-feeding news about the 2025 MotoGP calendar. The latest installment involves two circuits, which were both in doubt for 2025.

The good news for European fans is that the popular Circuito do Algarve in Portimão has been saved for the calendar for the next two season. Portimão is to appear on the calendar in both 2025 and 2026, after the Portuguese government came through with support for the race. No dates for the rounds have been announced, but the Portuguese race has traditionally taken place either early in the season or at the end of the year.

Post Aragon MotoGP News Round Up: Hungary, Alonso, Bautista In; Portimão, Zeelenberg, Baumgärtel Out,

By David Emmett | Tue, 03/Sep/2024 - 16:29

The fact that the races at the Motorland Aragon circuit were so eventful rather overshadowed the fact that a lot of news emerged during the weekend. In part perhaps because of the way it sorted of leaked out rather than being announced. So here's a quick rundown of some of the things we learned.

Calendar shake up

For the past decade or so, the MotoGP calendar has looked pretty predictable. Circuits may come and go, but the shape of the calendar has looked largely unchanged.

That looks set to change in 2025. Apart from starting in Buriram, Thailand, instead of Qatar, there races entering the calendar and established races being moved around. Last Wednesday we learned that Brno is set to be added to the schedule, though a date for the race is yet to be announced. In previous years, Brno has been back to back with the Austrian round at the Red Bull Ring, but talk around the paddock has it that this will not be the case in 2025.

By Jared Earle | Sun, 11/Aug/2024 - 14:09

A late starting Superpole race to determine the grid for race two has Toprak Razgatlioglu in pole position, surviving engine issues in qualifying and a rumour of his only having one zero kilometre engine left, having put distance on two of them and finished with the other three of his six allocated engines. His tyre choice for yesterday will also be playing on his mind. The temperature, 30ºC, added another dimension with the heat battering the track and riders. Hard tyres showed up in spite of the short ten lap distance.
