Although the lightweight class enjoyed a dry start to their Saturday, it only stayed that way for half of the morning’s proceedings. However, rain flags were not enough to prevent the all-time lap record coming under attack, initially from Angel Piqueras in the dry and then by teammate Adrian Fernandez on the very last flying lap, with light drizzle still falling on the start-finish straight. The two Leopard Racing riders were separated by nearly two tenths of a second in the end, with Ivan Ortola a further two tenths back in third position.

Buriram gave another sunny welcome to the lightweight class on Saturday morning, temperatures only slightly more manageable on day 2, and the lap record almost got threatened again. In the end, Taiyo Furusato had to settle for just topping the final practice session by a tenth of a second from Ivan Ortola, whose late charge promoted him to second position. Joel Kelso kept close in third, with Ryusei Yamanaka and Dani Holgado showing good speed inside the top five.
