2023 Mandalika MotoGP Free Practice 2 Result: Morbidelli Back In The Limelight

By Zara Daniela | Sat, 28/Sep/2024 - 02:48

The final practice session for the premier class saw a bit of a conveyor belt of riders taking top spot on the timing screens. First it was Fabio Quartararo hogging the limelight, with brief interruptions from Enea Bastianini, then Jorge Martin regrouped from an early tumble at turn 16 to lead halfway through the session and then Marc Marquez and Aleix Espargaro found some extra speed in the closing stages. However, in the end it was Franco Morbidelli who demoted them all to take control of proceedings in FP2.

2024 Mandalika Moto2 Practice 2 Result: Canet Reclaims His Record

By Zara Daniela | Sat, 28/Sep/2024 - 02:05

The all-time lap record was not safe in the intermediate class either, first threatened by Tony Arbolino and eventually reclaimed by Aron Canet in the final three minutes of the session. In the end, the Spaniard led the way by two tenths of a second ahead of the Italian, while Fermin Aldeguer continued a strong weekend in Indonesia with third place and a save for the highlights reel.

2024 Mandalika Moto3 Practice 2 Result: Lunetta Snatches A Lap Record

By Zara Daniela | Sat, 28/Sep/2024 - 01:21

Day two in Mandalika started with a broken all-time lap record and plenty of other early improvements, even if the new record holder, Luca Lunetta, ended the session in the gravel trap at turn 8. Friday’s leader, Collin Veijer, stayed close in second position, while Filippo Farioli joined his teammate in the top three.

Mandalika MotoGP Friday Round Up: Ducati Assert Their Dominance, Hope Grows For Honda And Yamaha

By David Emmett | Fri, 27/Sep/2024 - 22:22

The start of the Asia-Pacific MotoGP tour is supposed to throw up surprises. When MotoGP arrives at tracks that the teams and factories don't know as well, the field should be leveled. The established order should be shaken up, and outsiders get a look in.

At the end of the first day of the Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika International Circuit, the first of MotoGP's so-called flyaways (though that depends on where you depart from), the fastest four bikes are the four Ducati Desmosedici GP24s, the dominant machine of the 2024 season. A Ducati GP23 is in fifth, with two more GP23s in the top ten. Only Alex Márquez, who crashed trying to set a fast lap, languishes outside the top ten.

Normal order very much restored, then. Enea Bastianini just edged out Jorge Martin by four hundredths of a second, after Martin became the first rider to smash the lap record. Franco Morbidelli took a solid third on the second Pramac Ducati, while Bastianini's Ducati Lenovo teammate Pecco Bagnaia fired in a last desperate fast lap to take fourth.

2024 Mandalika MotoGP Practice Results: Bastianini Stamps His Authority On Proceedings

By David Emmett | Fri, 27/Sep/2024 - 08:10

Enea Bastianini has followed up his win at Misano with a powerful demonstration of speed at Mandalika. The Ducati Lenovo rider was three tenths under the existing lap record, and capable of doing that kind of time seemingly at will. Jorge Martin ended the session in second, just four hundredths behind Bastianini. The Pramac Ducati rider had been strong throughout timed practice, and ran a very strong pace.
