Everyone but Garrett Gerloff improved on their morning's time as Toprak Razgatlioglu remained quickest, joined by Danilo Petrucci and Nicolo Bulega in the top three. Rein threatened but didn't show up until after qualifying.

Alex Lowes, Alvaro Bautista and Andrea Iannone crashed out, while Razgatlioglu saved a turn twelve crash on his knee.

Yari Montella set a new lap record, a 1’28.907, over three quarters of a second quicker than Jorge Navarro and Tom Booth-Amos with fourth-quickest Lucas Mahias over a second off Montella's pace.

Toprak Razgatlioglu opened the typically British grey weekend on top, holding off Danilo Petrucci and Garrett Gerloff. While the track had damp patches in all sectors, the speed wasn't affected too much and Razgatlioglu set progressively quicker times as the session progressed.

The wind on the World Superbike grid was strong enough to blow over the Tissot Superpole boards, if sturdy members of staff weren't holding them up. The race was intended to be twenty three laps to a weekend attendance of 50,154.

World Supersport was nineteen laps at 19ºC, taking advantage of the new surface and a bit of wind.

In the support classes before the World Superbike Superpole race, drops of rain were felt around the track, casting a literal shadow over proceedings. The air was 17ºC with a 23ºC track, lower than yesterday's race. With the tyre consumption not mattering, only ten laps being contested, riders who were conserving their rubber for the end of their race can run wild and spend as much Pirelli rubber as they want.
