Cormac Shoots The Sachsenring: A Waterfall Full Of Surprises At The German GP, Part 1

By David Emmett | Thu, 11/Jul/2024 - 21:22

He looked like Mr Perfect at the Sachsenring. But Jorge Martin was only Mr 50%

Martin led Pecco Bagnaia for most of the race. Until he didn't.

Scenic but slow. Johann Zarco's patience with Honda is starting to wear a little thin

Remy Gardner made a brief return to MotoGP, replacing the injured Alex Rins

With only two of the new engines available for Yamaha, Gardner was given the old engines. The long exhaust is the tell

Fabio Quartararo got the new engines. Both using the short exhaust Yamaha has been using for years.

MotoGP's highest levels. Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, MotoGP champ and Sachsenring winner Pecco Bagnaia

They love a smoke bomb in Germany. The Pramac colors were a bonus

A souvenir collected on the way to the podium: Marc Marquez smashed his screen in a collision with Franco Morbidelli

Man of the moment Fabio Di Giannantonio said he would settle his future at the Sachsenring. He also had a nasty crash

Full grand prix fuel tank on top of the airbox on Jorge Martin's number 1 bike

Turn 11 is terrifying, which you can read in the body language of riders. Here's Luca Marini, not pushing his luck

Jack Miller feels better down the Waterfall, but he is still keeping something in reserve

Pecco Bagnaia oozes confidence...

Jorge Martin displays commitment

Speaking of confidence, Miguel Oliveira finally came good at the Sachsenring. Now he needs to keep it up

Turn 1 turmoil. Always amazing that everyone makes it through more or less unscathed

2024 in a nutshell. 2023 too. 2025?

A crash doesn't make you 50% less of a competitor, nor does being beaten in one race define the nature, nor the final result, of an entire season. Watch the captioning!!!

Martin did the business on the Saturday. That's 50% of the weekend's business.

He didn't on the Sunday.

50% is also the points for a sprint win. That was very much the story of 2023.

2024?

Pecco 2 wins on a saturday, 6 on Sunday.

Jorge, 4 saturday, 2 Sunday.

Also Pecco has 4 no scores to Jorges 3 but only one of Pecco's was a sunday,

Also, there's no other rider in the last shot. Very 2023/2024.

I had to go back and look.  Still took me a second because I kept looking at neck of leathers.  Nearly lost my own coffee filled bags when I got it.

Well played.

Is 50%. Also, you tend not to find insults here.

I was more shocked/surprised by the fuel tank. After the exposed HRC and Akra Ti artwork it’s no wonder it’s usually out of sight! Probably (as In definitely) better than I could do.

The quality of design and workmanship on these machines is astounding. Thanks Messrs DE and CRM.

Definitely would like some paddock pass podcast and Motomatters merch.

T-shirts, polo shirts, hat, jumper or hoodie.

Probably not a double breasted suit coat.
