French sports car maker Alpine is to join with the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP team to become 'main sponsor'. Though details of the exact role Alpine will play remain vague, the press release issued by Prima Pramac suggest that Alpine will be working with Pramac to improve performance. Given Pramac is embarking on a new partnership with Yamaha in 2025, that could be an important link up.
The deal comes as part of Pramac boss Paolo Campinoti's deep links with the F1 paddock. Pramac has long run an F1 sticker on their bikes, as a result of Campinoti's friendship with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. Campinoti also has very strong ties with Renault CEO Luca de Meo, who was previously behind FIAT's sponsorship of the Yamaha MotoGP team between 2007 and 2010. The partnering of Renault daughter Alpine with Yamaha in MotoGP is a logical step in reestablishing a foothold in the MotoGP paddock.
Exactly how prominent the Alpine sponsorship is will be revealed at the joint launch of Yamaha's MotoGP teams in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, January 31st.
The Pramac press release announcing the deal appears below:
