Niccolo Bulega ended as fastest on the first day of testing for the WorldSBK class of 2025. In dry weather at Jerez, the Aruba.it Ducati rider led GoEleven's Andrea Iannone by nearly half a second. Scott Redding made a welcome return to Ducati, putting his MGM Bonovo bike into third place under a tenth behind Iannone.
Garrett Gerloff, now on the Kawasaki after BMW cut back to two bikes, was fourth fastest after the first day, finishing ahead of Axel Bassani on the Bimota, what is now Kawasaki's factory effort in World Superbikes.
Major absentee is reigning world champion Toprak Razgatlioglu. The Turkish BMW rider is forced to miss the test after injuring a finger in a training crash.
In the WorldSSP class, Marcel Schrötter was quickest on the Ducati Panigale V2, ahead of Kaito Toba on the Honda. Niki Tuuli and Raffaele de Rosa were also present, riding the current QJMOTOR WorldSSP bike, as well as a new prototype.

QJ Moto question
Are WSSP teams allowed to have cyborg riders? Who are QJ Moto and Proto 1?
Lecuona?
Iker Lecuona seems to be absent? Or has he lost his ride?
Zaqhwan Zaidi the Malaysian rider hasn't turned up yet. Apparently due to visa problems.

Lecuona injured
Apparently he had a training accident a couple of weeks ago and was unable to do testing.

Toprak is definitely going…
Toprak is definitely going to be on the back foot. Didn't he miss the test and the end of the year as well due to another injury?
I also read about some updates to the BMW being deemed not satisfactory under the rules so they might have to change some bits on the chassis.

Toprak didn't miss the end…
Toprak didn't miss the end of season test due to an injury, only BMW's test team did that test, him and Van Der Mark didn't do it.
Sounds like BMW can't use the frame they wanted to so not ideal, Toprak had such an advantage last year though that BMW being on the back foot doesn't mean he won't be fastest still!

I think they had a non…
I think they had a non production standard chassis last year as part of superconcessions, which are gone. So the other Manus called them out on trying to run it again since it isn't the same on the production bike. Didn't see the particular detail of what they had done to it, but we can guess changing some flex somewhere.
Bet Toprak does fine. The racing might be a touch closer?
While riding for Yamaha,…
While riding for Yamaha, Denning said Toprak ruins bikes like no other rider that they had ever seen. Here are some shots of the extent that the frame was beefed up on the R1 (starts at 5:19):
