2025 Portimão Moto2 Test Day 2 Times: Aron Canet Smashes Lap Record

By David Emmett | Thu, 13/Feb/2025 - 18:09

The second day of the Portimão Moto2 test saw lap records smashed. Aron Canet took three tenths off Manu Gonzalez' qualifying record set at the race in March last year. The Fantic Racing rider finished just ahead of Marc VDS' Jake Dixon, and IntactGP's Manu Gonzalez, who was himself two tenths under his own record.

Diogo Moreira was fourth quickest on the other Fantic Racing Kales, ahead of Barry Baltus and Zonta van den Goorbergh. Everyone was much quicker on the second day of the test.

The Moto2 and Moto3 riders now head to Jerez, for the final test of the preseason next week.

American Racing have been wind-tunnel testing instead.

Seems bizarre, at least from a timing perspective.

From American Racing Moto 2 Team #americanracingteam, Roberts and Ramirez are still on their roster. No idea why they weren't at the test. But they do have a very nice livery:

Not showing up for the scheduled test is rare to the point of being unique in my memory, when riders are healthy and bikes are ready. Budget? That would not be good.

I would appreciate hearing from those with more knowledge (or better memory?) than me. Thx.
