2024 Barcelona Solidarity Moto3 Practice 2 Result: Ortola Returns To The Spotlight

By Zara Daniela | Sat, 16/Nov/2024 - 08:21

The lightweight class enjoyed a sunny start to Saturday, although not a particularly warm one, but riders still managed to challenge Friday’s benchmark in the end. It wasn’t until Ivan Ortola woke up in the final few seconds of the session that Dani Holgado got demoted from the top of the combined standings, both Ortola and David Alonso going quicker in the closing stages. The two were separated by seven tenths of a second at the front of the field, with Holgado settling for third overall, courtesy of his top time from P1.

Similarly, David Muñoz and Angel Piqueras stayed in the combined top five with their best lap times from Friday, while rookie Jacob Roulstone returned to the business end by climbing into 6th overall and 3rd in the session. Joel Kelso and Collin Veijer failed to improve their times but were safely into 7th and 8th positions on the combined log, with Scott Ogden promoted to 9th.

Adrian Fernandez completed the top 10 overall, while the remaining tickets to Q2 were handed out to Jose Antonio Rueda, Stefano Nepa, Luca Lunetta and David Almansa. That leaves the likes of Ryusei Yamanaka, Matteo Bertelle, Tatsuki Suzuki or Riccardo Rossi to battle it out in Q1.
